Metacognitive strategies of university students

Metacognition strategies guide, monitor, and control learning strategies, which help raise motivation for learning, whether related to memorizing, absorbing, documenting, or utilizing information. The research problem is defined by the following question:
Are university students' metacognitive strategies affected by a decrease in their academic achievement?
The research aims to measure metacognitive strategies among students at the University of Kufa and to identify the significance of differences in metacognitive strategies. The primary research sample, representing 15% of the original population, was selected using a random sample with proportional distribution. The sample consisted of (400) male and female students, distributed as follows: (157) male students and (243) female students, according to the gender variable; (70) male students and (136) female students from the humanities; and (87) male students and (107) female students from the sciences, according to the major variable.
