The term “semantics” is one of the most prominent topics raised at all levels of language, including the possibility of giving words one or more meanings. This approach is considered one of the most effective topics for investigating religious texts, including Sahifa al-Sajjadiyya, which has eloquence and a high ability to develop concepts and ideas. The first observation that can be noticed by taking a quick look at the supplications of Sahifa al-Sajjadiyya is the appropriate choice and precise arrangement of words at the vocabulary level. Among the many vocabulary words in Sahifa al-Sajjadi, the words power and ability played an important role in extrapolating the meanings intended by Imam al-Sajjad (), such as political, ideological, social, religious, and other concepts. This research adopted the descriptive analytical method, after a linguistic and semantic study of these two words in their different semantic manifestations in Sahifa al-Sajjadiya. Therefore, these two words were used in Sahifa al-Sajjadiyya for different meanings and concepts, such as will, strength of the heart, and physical and spiritual strength. The word “strength” was also diagnosed as pertaining to feeling and reason more than “ability.”
