Abstract:
We presented in this research paper, a hidden aspect of the genius of the Muslim architect in his construction of religious buildings, Especially related to the golden rectangle, We have taken an example to analyze this engineering base of Islamic architecture Some of the mosques of the ancient city of Tlemcen, For example, Sidi Ibrahim Al-Masmoudi Mosque constructed by the Zianians, and the two mosques of Abu Madian and Sidi Al-Halawi, constructed by the Marinids during their occupation of the city of Tlemcen.
This subject highlights an architectural village that demonstrated the evolution of architecture for ancestors, It now directly refutes what Western Orientalists claim about Islamic architecture being a random building without any engineering base, Where we found through the mathematical calculations of the study samples (Mosque of Sidi Ibrahim Al-Masmoudi, Sidi Al-Halawi and Sidi Abi Madian), The Muslim builder embodied one of the principles of modern architecture represented by the golden rectangle that creates comfort and privacy in the architectural space of this mosques.
