Mechanism of transferring the impact of money supply as an intermediate channel to economic growth in Iraq for the period (2004-2017)

Abstract:
The importance of the research lies in the role played by the money supply channel as the main intermediary channel for the monetary policy in Iraq to contribute to the achievement of appropriate economic growth, Therefore, the research presented a theoretical framework of both money supply (M2) on the one hand, and economic growth represented by GDP on the one hand other, in addition to analyzing the trends and development of these two variables through analyzing their data and identifying the relationship between them to reach the effects of that channel represented of the monetary policy in Iraq during the period (2004-2017), the research has reached important results through the adoption of some monetary and real indicators, both in the field of money supply or in the field of GDP growth in its current and constant form, It was concluded that the period of research witnessed an upward trend in M2, except for the year 2015, in which money supply declined due to the deterioration of economic life and the form of money supply (M1), which is a significant contribution to reveal clearly the limited banking awareness of individuals, as well as inefficiency the Iraqi banking system, although the increase in the money supply (M2) has played a positive role in increasing the GDP, its growth rates did not match the growth rates of the GDP at constant prices, due to the unstable political and economic conditions and this reflected negatively on the monetary stability in most Years of research.
