Abstract

The research aims to develop a conceptual framework about banking awareness and its impact on the inertia of the capital structure of Iraqi banks, as it was relied on the annual reports published in the Iraqi Stock Exchange, where a group of banks was selected depending on the availability of data and the importance of those banks, as the sample includes (Bank of Baghdad, The Iraqi Investment Bank, the Middle East Investment Bank, the National Bank of Iraq and Sumer Commercial Bank) for the period from 2011 to 2020. The method of cross-sectional data analysis (Panel Data) was used through a ready program (EViews v.12).

The research reached a set of conclusions, the most important of which is the low level of banking awareness and the existence of a significant statistically significant impact relationship for the indicators of banking awareness on the actual debt ratio. The researcher recommended the need to take into account customer satisfaction and strengthen the bond between the bank and the customer to increase banking awareness, as well as make the necessary adjustments to the capital structure.
