Abstract

This research aims to identify the problems and obstacles in the Baghdad Water Department and ways to address them. The research also focused on the extent to which sustainable development goals are applied, and the reality of the work of drinking water production projects in the city of Baghdad, and knowledge of the obstacles that hinder the work of these projects, distribution problems, and how to overcome crises and challenges in a way that is incompatible with development requirements. sustainable. For the purpose of achieving the objectives of the research, the analytical method was used depending on multiple sources to obtain the necessary data, by reviewing the relevant documents and observing some aspects of the work of the department, and the main source was the data of the Baghdad Water Department. The research concluded that there are large quantities of water wasted as a result of various reasons, some of which are caused by leaching into the distribution networks and other quantities of waste result from the incorrect uses that some citizens resort to, which causes the scarcity of drinking water, so it is necessary to conduct extensive campaigns for the purpose of Reporting leaks and fractures in the networks, and the competent municipal departments repairing them after they are supported with the necessary equipment and equipped with pipe repair accessories of all kinds, as well as the need to expand the media aspects to educate citizens about the importance of water and the need to rationalize its uses and repair and maintenance of internal networks of real estate, which is done by radio, television and newspapers Through the means of education in schools and universities and through religious awareness in mosques and churches and through seminars, the research derives its value to help the Baghdad Water Department on how to face crises and obstacles in line with the requirements of sustainable development.
