The national dimensions of the fatwa of the competent jihad of Mr. Ali al-Sistani

Abstract

As soon  as the  Supreme Leader, Sayyid Ali al-Sistani, issued his historic fatwa on "Jihad al-Kafa'i" following the invasion  of the city of Mosul by ISIS terrorist gangs, the  center of Nineveh province in northern Iraq on the tenth of June 2014, hundreds of thousands of Iraqis, motivated by their religious faith and national spirit, responded to the call  of the religious authority to confront the threat of these bloody takfiri gangs.

The fatwa contributed to the unification of national  public opinion in Iraq towards the defense  of the homeland and the sanctities,  which made the majority of Iraqis renounce the practice of sectarianism, especially since the decision has become Iraqi national in all its affairs, and this is proven by the blessed fatwa through the birth of a national ideological army.

The Popular Mobilization is the legitimate and national birth of the fatwa of jihad, and the  main pillar to save the homeland and holy sites from the clutches  of terrorism,  so that its sons achieve wonderful heroism,  starting with the liberation of the Baghdad belt, which is the most dangerous after the fall of Mosul, because the battles have become on the walls of Baghdad, after ISIS announced its intention to invade Shiite cities, and  its attempt to demolish and destroy the holy shrines in them, and the plan was to break the prestige of the Shiite doctrine in Iraq.

While the fatwa contributed to increasing the motivation of Iraqi youth and their desire for jihadist work,  which led to a rise in the level of military and security expertise they have, as revealed the names of loyal national leaders who emerged in the military field, who  did not have any distinctive addresses before the day of the fatwa's issuance.

This confirms the great national role to defend Iraq, its people and its territorial integrity, and  to preserve the unity of the social fabric of its people, as the fatwa contributed to preserving the civilization of Mesopotamia, because the establishment of civilization cannot be without maintaining order, while the clear role of the Iraqi tribesmen emerged, who proved that they are the solid help of the religious authority in defending Iraq and defending its sanctities.  He took the initiative to cross to safety and eliminate attempts to undermine the Iraqi people of all sects and ethnicities.
