Abstract

The sailors’ revolution erupted on 28 October 1918, after the order of the German commander to the participation of the German fleet in attacking the British fleet. The revolution was a spontaneous act in which the German soldiers and sailors participated, and then it expanded to include the port of Kiel and the German states. The parties and trade unions worked to invest the revolution outcome for their favor. The revolution also has different results; the most important is the fall of the German Empire and the escape of Caesar, William II, to the Netherlands, as one of the most important results of the revolution was the preparation for the Communistic Spartacus revolution in Germany, and the establishment of the German Weimar Republic. While one of the most important causes of the revolution was the German defeat in all forms, especially the economic, and its impact on German society, its impact on German sailors and soldiers, as well as the spread of socialist ideas under the influence of the Russian Revolutio
