Self-perceptions of university students

Abstract

The problem of the current research is embodied in the following questions: Do students experience states of self-perceptions? The objectives of the current research were defined as follows: 1- Self-perceptions of Kufa University students. Statistically significant differences in self-perceptions of university students according to gender (male-female). And the specialization (scientific - human). The research is determined in: the objective limit, the self-perceptions of the university students, and according to the human limit, the research is determined by the students of the university in the holy city of Najaf, males and females, and for the scientific and human specializations. And in the time limit of the academic year (2022-2023 AD) (1444-1445 AH), it included the theoretical framework and previous studies on the variable (self-perceptions). Theories and previous studies were discussed and the extent of benefit from them was shown. The researchers used the descriptive correlative approach, and the research community consisted of university students for the academic year (2022-2023), as the total number of the research community reached: (25240) male and female students, for the scientific and human specializations, and the basic research sample was chosen by the stratified random method with equal distribution by ( 400), male and female students from all faculties of the University of Kufa. To achieve the objectives of the research, the researcher built a measure of self-perceptions after checking the statistical indicators (truth and reliability) consisting of (40) items, and five alternatives: they are: It never applies to me.) I gave (5) degrees to the alternative: (applies to me always), (4) degrees to the alternative: (applies to me often), (3) degrees to the alternative: (applies to me sometimes), and (2) degrees to the alternative (applies to me a little). , and (1) score for the alternative (it does not apply to me at all), and thus the total score was calculated on the basis of the sum of the weights of the answers to the paragraphs, meaning that the highest score is: (200) and the lowest score is: (40), with a hypothetical average of (120) degrees The researchers reached the following results: A. It became clear that the members of the research sample, the students of the University of Kufa, are characterized by self-perceptions and all its four fields. There are no statistically significant differences between males and females, despite the high arithmetic mean for males, and there is no difference between scientific and human specialization between them.
