Abstract

Through the topic of research (burning bookcases in Islamic history in the fifth and sixth centuries AH), we have reached the following results:

1- The first burning of books or what is written was the burning of the hadiths of the Prophet (7) by both caliphs Abu Bakr al-Siddiq and Umar ibn al-Khattab, lest there be a difference between Muslims in the hadiths of the Prophet (7) or between the hadiths of the Prophet and the Holy Qur’an, and this ignores the actual value These hadiths are considered as the second source of Islamic legislation with regard to rulings on permissible and forbidden matters.
