Abstract

Hardness of the heart is among the most dangerous ailments warned against in the Holy Quran, which condemns those with hardened hearts and promises them severe punishment due to its profound negative effects on multiple levels Doctrinally: It leads to misguidance and intellectual deviation, betrayal of Allah’s commands, and distortion of His words.:

- Morally: It manifests in harshness, coarseness, and a lack of restraint in violating Allah’s prohibitions Socially: It drives people away due to rude behavior, mistreatment, and arrogance

- Economically: It results from greed, hoarding, and stinginess.

Allah the Almighty has clarified in His clear verses the key factors that contribute to the hardening of the heart, foremost among them:

- Excessive speech without the remembrance of Allah.

- Neglecting the recitation of the Quran.

- Prolonged worldly aspirations and attachment to its fleeting pleasures.

- Negligence and indulgence in idle entertainment and music.

Breaking covenants and pledges.  - Gluttony and excessive eating.

Moreover, Allah—through His Quran, His messengers, and His chosen guides—has outlined the ways to treat this destructive disease and escape its grip after revealing its harmful consequences in this life and the hereafter, and its impact on human misery or happiness
