Dialogue leadership and its role in reducing depression in the workplace: a survey study at Amal Al-Hayat Private Hospital - Najaf

This study aimed to examine the role of dialogic leadership in reducing workplace depression. As a contemporary leadership style focused on dialogue, empathy, and active listening, dialogic leadership has shown potential in improving employee well-being, especially in high-pressure environments such as healthcare institutions .The research was conducted at Amal Al-Hayat Private Hospital in Al-Najaf Al-Ashraf, Iraq. A descriptive-analytical approach was adopted, using a structured questionnaire distributed to all hospital staff. Out of 140 distributed questionnaires, 132 valid responses were collected (response rate: 94.3%. (.The study focused on two core variables: dialogic leadership (affiliation, interactivity, involvement, intentionality) and workplace depression (depressed mood, guilt, worthlessness, helplessness and hopelessness, psychomotor retardation(.Findings revealed a statistically significant negative relationship between dialogic leadership and workplace depression. Higher levels of dialogic leadership practices were associated with lower levels of employee depression. The study recommends adopting dialogic leadership approaches in healthcare settings to foster psychological well-being and a healthier work environment.
