Abstract

The French existential philosopher "Maurice Merleau-Ponty" is the most prominent philosopher of phenomenology before he was an existentialist because he is one of the most prominent readers of Husserl, as we find him following his approach in his study of phenomenology by describing the direct experience of things, that is, through awareness of things. He tried to apply the phenomenological approach in his philosophy in general and his aesthetic or artistic philosophy in particular, because this approach aims to return "things in themselves" and this was Husserl's slogan and goal. He also went through his study of phenomenology and his influence on it to a basic idea: transcending the relationship between "subject and object", "visible and invisible" and "mind and matter", as well as transcending Sartre's division of existence "existence-in-itself" and "existence-for-itself".
