This research examines the jurisprudential framework of spending on and caring for animals according to Imamiyyah jurists, considering it a fundamental pillar of protecting bio-ecosystems from an Islamic perspective. The research problem highlights the proactive approach of Islamic legislation in protecting animal rights compared to modern environmental trends, by defining the financial and legal responsibilities of the animal’s owner or possessor. The study adopts an inductive-analytical approach to analyze the opinions and principles of Imamiyyah jurists, relying on the four main sources of Islamic law (the Quran, Sunnah, Consensus, and Reason).
The study concluded several key results, most notably: the consensus among Imamiyyah jurists on the obligation of spending on owned animals (whether consumable or non-consumable), defining the benchmark of spending as "sufficiency and meeting basic needs" rather than a fixed amount. Additionally, it grants the Sharia judge the authority to compel an abstaining owner to spend, sell, or slaughter the animal to preserve a respected soul. The research also demonstrates the distinctiveness of Imamiyyah jurisprudence in establishing innovative rules such as "ownership through rescue" for abandoned animals in dangerous zones, and the permissibility of seizing food to feed a starving animal in emergencies, showcasing Islam’s legislative precedence in animal welfare and ecological balance
