This study aims to analyze this poem in terms of its organic and thematic unity, its main purposes, its artistic structure, its profound symbolic meanings, and its critical evaluation, to demonstrate how it transcended tribal pride and became a resounding cry of faith and a victory for the tolerant message of Islam.
The study comprises:
An introduction addressing the role and status of poetry and poets among the pre -Islamic Arabs, the status of the Mu'allaqat (the seven pre -Islamic odes) as the pinnacle of pre -Islamic eloquence, and the mastery of poetry.
The first section examines the poetry of Abu Talib and its significance, the interest of scholars and modern thinkers in his Lamiyyah poem, the occasion of the poem, and the concepts of good and evil in poetry.
The second section presents a thematic study of the poem and its main purposes.
The third section analyzes the poem's artistic structure, including its poetic language, imagery, rhetoric, and external and internal rhythm. The study concludes with a summary.
