Abstract

The research aims to clarify the importance of the concept of "language games" for Wittgenstein,  then investigate its various manifestations in the following criticism and thought, especially the religion that postmodern and post-structuralist theories owe, as well as theories defending modernity, and finally among the interpreters,  Thus, the research tried to shed light on some of the topics that fall within the circle of language games and the accompanying concepts, represented by “the form of life”, family similarity, and everything that the metaphor of the game refers to in Wittgenstein’s intention, which was manifested in Lyotard through his formulation of a postmodern cognitive theory  It is based on the concept of language games, as well as the most important concept of "discord", its emphasis on pluralism and difference, while Habermas tried to restore the libertarian theory of modernity, by investing Wittgenstein's concept in his theory of communicative action. The concept of play was central to the work of the German philosopher Gadamer, in his most famous study "Truth and Method", where we shed light on the aspects of the encounter between the two philosophers
