Abstract

Islam cared about the social life of man, and called for the values of tolerance, brotherhood, and reconciliation among the members of the human society, and for the human society to live with its various peoples and races on the basis of tolerance and peaceful coexistence. Buildings, principles and methods that achieve the goal of peaceful coexistence and facilitate it. These premises, principles and methods are investigated by looking at the Qur’anic verses and the purified biography of the Noble Prophet and his family, in the field of ethical dealings with others. And we can start our speech by asking a pivotal question, does Islam accept the establishment of relations with non-Muslims from foreign societies that enjoy intellectual buildings and special origins, and social, cultural and political models, different from what is found in Islam? This article is an attempt to demonstrate the authenticity of peaceful coexistence in the view of the Holy Qur’an and the Prophet’s biography, in the form of a (descriptive-analytical) investigation that relies on a method that takes advantage of the foundations, principles, methods and religious teachings that prove this. As for the hypothesis of the investigation, it is represented in clarifying the status of peaceful coexistence among all human beings, and how the source of support for religious texts and the Qur’anic and narrative recommendations is located, and that the only exception in it is excluding the enemies who fight against Muslims, or the oppressors who oppress others, by depriving them of their rights and interests, and harassing them in different aspects of their lives. It is expected from the article that we will reach results that show that peaceful coexistence has an effective role in consolidating social relations and human bonds, uniting hearts and spreading the values of love, kindness and politeness among members of human society, and that all of this is a source of attention, care and confirmation from the true Islamic religion.
