The role of the competent defense fatwa in defeating terrorism and preserving human rights

Abstract

The historical   fatwa "Efficient Defense" of the Supreme Religious Ayatollah Sayyid Ali al-Husseini al-Sistani (long as his shadow lasts) on 14 Shaaban 1435 AH (13 June 2014), "clearly and directly contributed to the victory of the values and principles of human rights in defeating ISIS falsehood, preserving Iraq's sovereignty and the unity of its components. This fatwa (lifeline) was characterized by the achievement of many achievements, the most important of which are: the establishment of the Popular Mobilization, which contributed to raising the level of awareness, preparedness, sacrifice, redemption, confronting terrorism in the hearts of Iraqis, resisting terrorism, and participating in ridding Iraqis of their evils. The fatwa contributed to raising the morale of fighting, resisting, confronting and winning in the hearts  of  The security forces from the army, federal police, security, intelligence and intelligence, in addition to air defense and army aviation, with the help of the Popular Mobilization Forces, fueled this renaissance and the high fighting enthusiasm for the rapid victory over ISIS terrorism. The orientation of the supreme religious authority to the commitment to human rights was white, that is, without a deliberate violation of human rights, and the battles were clean because they were free from the use of weapons of mass destruction and internationally prohibited materials such as chemical, biological, atomic and bacterial weapons, which Iraq does not have, and exemplary: for its commitment to fighting battles in terms of plans, obligations and implementation in accordance with international standards and standards, attention to infrastructure and displaced persons, and the use of smart weapons against warriors of its enemies. The fatwa also  did not contain any call for tendencies contrary to the unity and sovereignty of Iraq, whether partisan, nationalist or otherwise, and contributed to stopping the collapse of the Iraqi state and the possibility of its fall into the hands of those terrorist groups, especially after their arrival on the outskirts of the province of Baghdad, the capital, and contributed to extinguishing the sectarian strife that ISIS aimed to achieve in the invasion with the support of outside the Iraqi borders. The fatwa,with God's help, contributed to the victory over the advance of ISIS terrorism that swept large areas in several Iraqi provinces. The fatwa supported international peace and security in eliminating the center of Daesh terrorism in Iraq, and provided humanity with a wonderful example of its distinguished role in its early response to defeat the invasion and aggression, and to unite ranks, cooperation and solidarity to support right against falsehood.
