Abstract

Infallibility among the characteristics of the imam occupies an important place among the Imami Shiites, and the thoughts and minds of the speakers of this school occupied a lot because of the problems they faced due to the fierce attempt of some to challenge it, especially Ibn Taymiyyah, who sought vigorously in his book Minhaj al-Sunnah to question it in general and the infallibility of Ali ( ) in particular. And his problems that he adopts are of two types: one related to the novel and another non-narrative. As for his non-fictional suspicions that this research studies and criticizes, they are those that say: Ali (PBUH) is not infallible because God did not support him and because corruption during his government did not decrease, just as the Companions and followers did not support his infallibility, but rather his infallibility is an alleged fabrication by Abdullah Ibn Saba. However, after studying this appeal and doubts, we concluded that God's support should not be attributed to the apparent meaning, rather that there are other reasons that prevented Imam Ali from reaching the government, in addition to that () was spending most of his time, after he came to power, in Correcting the deviations that were found, also if Ibn Taymiyyah’s claim that the Companions and the Followers did not support his infallibility is not true, as there are hadiths transmitted by the Companions and the Followers themselves, such as the hadith of the two weighty things, the ship and others, in which there is definitive evidence of his infallibility (PBUH), and what refutes Ibn Taymiyyah’s last suspicion is that there is nothing Indicates the presence of the personality of Ibn Saba in history. This research aims, through the theological-historical method, to study and criticize these similarities and doubts
