Abstract

Resistance is the right to defend oneself, the land, belief and values, and it was expressed in our Arab heritage by jihad, so confronting the enemy is the lesser jihad, and confronting oneself and overcoming passion is the greater jihad as we see its models in Persian and Arabic literature Nasrallah Mardani and Mahmoud Darwish. Both poets lived struggling with the faith of al-Wathiq in victory for himself over the harsh life, and for his people over colonialism and oppression. In this brief research, we try to stand on the concept of resistance and its forms, stressing that the poetry of resistance of these two poets is one of the most literary genres capable of manifesting the act of resistance, as they are the messengers of defending the land and its people.
